Anthony Woods, a Caribou High School senior and member of the Viking Video Productions class, was recently busy putting up posters in local businesses promoting the Viking Video Benefit Concert to take place Saturday, March 27 at the Caribou Performing Arts Center.
According to Brenda Jepson, who directs the video productions class, “Joshua has had 2,000 posters printed and we have been putting them up all around Caribou and at the high school. Other students have been helping as well. He is a member of the Viking Video Advisory Board and believes that if we can’t get more equipment, it will make it increasingly difficult to recruit students to the class, further jeopardizing its existence.”
Archer stated, “Due to recent budget cuts at the Caribou Regional Technology Center the Center’s Viking Video Program is in danger of being cut if it doesn’t see an increase in student interest. The reason for the decrease in student interest is due to a lack of access to current technology.”
“The students are working with ancient equipment and are in desperate need for new computers, cameras and software to help them work at the speed of thought and flourish creatively,” he added.
The former student also stated, “In response to the program’s urgent need of new equipment, all of us at presquillian.com have decided to put on a benefit concert to help raise money for the CRTC’s Viking Video Production program. This benefit concert will take place at the Caribou Performing Arts Center on Saturday, March 27 at 6 p.m. Along with some great local music there will be artwork available as raffle items provided by talented local artists.”
Music will be provided by Travis Cyr, Ryan Ashby and the Mighty Oak.
