MARS HILL – Darrell “Jay” Ashby, 40, passed away March 17, 2010 at a Bangor hospital after a 13-year battle resulting from kidney failure. He was born March 23, 1969, in Fort Fairfield, the son of Loomis Ashby and Marilyn (Martin) (Ashby) Warner. Jay graduated from Ashland Community High School in 1988. He loved to hunt and fish, spend time at the camp on Portage Lake. The thing that gave him the most enjoyment was spending time with family and friends, and he will be forever remembered by them. Jay is survived by his father, Loomis of Virginia Beach, Virginia; his mother, Marilyn of Fort Fairfield; his loving wife, Wendi Ashby; two children; a daughter, Sage Ashby; a son, Lucas Crawford and his fiancé Brittany Gallagher; and a granddaughter, Riley Crawford all of Mars Hill. He also leaves behind a sister, Roberta Doughty of Fort Fairfield; father- and mother-in-law, Roger and Linda Crawford of Mars Hill; brother-in-law, Roger Crawford of Jacksonville, FL; sisters-in-law, Laurie and Julie; a special brother- and sister-in-law, Chris and Peggy Crawford of Mars Hill; and a special uncle and aunt, Mark and Jean Thompson of Fort Fairfield. A time of remembrance was held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Bethel Baptist Church. Donations may be made in support of the family (Wendi Ashby, P.O.
