HODGDON — Wesley Heinrichs, son of Glenn Heinrichs and the late Lori Heinrichs of Hodgdon, and a senior at Hodgdon High School has been selected to receive the 2010 Principal’s Award, Hodgdon High School Principal Clark Rafford announced Friday. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.
“Throughout his years at Hodgdon High School, Wesley has truly distinguished himself in the classroom,” Rafford said. “His activities while attending Hodgdon include: junior varsity basketball, four years in chorus and two senior plays. He has received recognition as the student of the month twice in his four years and is also a National Merit Scholar Final, which speaks volumes of his academic ability. He is planning on attending either Yale or the University of Pennsylvania in the fall to study in the field of biology.”Wesley Heinrichs
Heinrichs, Rafford and other award winners and their principals will attend an Honors Luncheon at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor on Saturday, April 3, at 1 p.m.
The Honors Luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque, a pin and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace McGowan and Richard W. Tyler. McGowen and Tyler were former Maine principals and executive directors of the Association. The scholarship recipients are chosen randomly from those seniors who are in attendance.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 140 Maine public and private schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
