MAPLETON DAISY AND BROWNIE GIRL SCOUT TROOP 1133 recently had the opportunity to tour the kitchen at the Presque Isle Pizza Hut. Restaurant Manager Debbie Olah taught the girls proper hand washing and allowed each of them to make their own personal pan pizza. Troop 81
HALEY SMITH, at left, a sophomore at Presque Isle High School and a member of Troop 81, Presque Isle, is working on achieving her Gold Award. Her project is entitled “Fun with ABCs at the Discovery Museum.” Working to combat early childhood illiteracy, the project will reinforce school curriculums in making reading fun by utilizing games, crafts and puzzles. Once completed, the project will be donated to the Caribou Children’s Discovery Museum. Smith and Nancy Chandler, president of CCDM’s committee and Smith’s Gold Award project adviser, are seen here with a sampling of the project at the Chocolate Festival held in Caribou.

THE GIRLS OF TROOP 81, at left, in Presque Isle have begun work on their Emergency Preparedness and Outdoor Survival Interest Projects. They are involved in the emergency management planning for Aroostook County, have done some community mapping and have won a statewide competition in community mapping.
