Attorney joins Bemis & Rossignol
Kari-Wells-Puckett, of Presque Isle, was admitted to the Maine Bar on Oct. 15, 2009, in Machias. Wells-Puckett is currently working at Bemis & Rossignol, LLC, at 454 Main Street, in Presque Isle.
Wells-Puckett was sponsored to the Bar by Frank Bemis. She was sworn in by Justice Donald Alexander of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. Wells-Puckett and fellow inductee, Sarah Irving, of Machias, were only the second and third women to be sworn in in that courtroom since Clara Nash of Columbia Falls was accepted into the Maine Bar in the October 1872 term.
She graduated from Presque Isle High School and attended Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pa. Upon graduation from Mercyhurst, she worked in museum education at the Erie Maritime Museum. She returned to Maine in 2000. Wells-Puckett was employed by the University of Maine Alumni Association as a reunion giving officer and the University of Maine Development Office as a major gift officer.
With the addition of Wells-Puckett, Bemis & Rossignol, established in January 2006, is now the largest Maine law firm north of Bangor. She is a general practitioner handling family matters, criminal defense, probate law, real estate, general civil litigation, and wills, trusts and estates.
Wells-Puckett attended Maine School of Law in Portland, graduating in May 2009. She lives in Presque Isle with her husband, Martin Puckett (town manager of Mapleton, Castle Hill and Chapman) and their daughter Sabine. Sabine was born during Wells-Puckett’s third year of law school.
