The East Grand High School Outdoor Education Class enjoyed snowshoeing and cross country skiing. They also had a special visitor, veteran student Harvey Brittain, who came home on break while attending college in Alaska. Brittain discussed life skills gained from the East Grand Outdoor Education program with the students, and how he has put to use numerous outdoor skills during his summer in Alaska guiding canoe trips. He talked about how the class helped him with self confidence and public speaking. Later, the students learned to build igloos and how to survive a night outside in the winter. Above, East Grand Outdoor Education students having fun in the snow were, from left, front, Kaitlyn Beaudoin and Sharlene Maynard; back, Cleve Kenyon, Jon Wright, Andrew Gilman, Mitchell Bartlett, Shuana Beaudoin, teacher Jeremy Durost, Elizabeth Gilman and Harvey Brittain. Absent from the photograph is Ben Plummer. Below, Jon Wright looks on as Andrew Gilman wipes out, as both were attempting to cross-country ski down a small hill.
