Adult Education courses offered

    HOULTON — The following courses are being offered by the SAD 29/70 Adult Education department. For more information or to register for these classes, call 521-3100 ext. 5.
    “From the Soil Up”, a 4-Part Series — Making plans for spring and summer gardening? The University of Maine Cooperative Extension and Houlton/Hodgdon Adult Education announce a 4-part series on gardening and preserving your own food beginning Wednesday, March 24 through April 14, 2010.  There are 2 sessions on gardening and 2 sessions on the various preserving methods (canning, freezing and drying). The only charge is $12.50 for the preserving materials that you will receive at the March 31 and April 14 classes. Classes are 6 to 9 pm at the Houlton High School and will be led by Andrew Plant and Linda Trickey.
    Free Computer Training Saturday —A free Computer Training course will be held Saturday, March 27, at the Hodgdon Mill Pond School from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. This class is for those adults who are unsure about how to begin using a computer or want to learn more about computer programs. The instructor, Regina McCombs, will introduce students to the basics of computer operations and the Internet. There is no charge for this session, but registration is required by calling Adult Education.
    Early Registration Required for C.N.A.-Meds — Region Two Adult Vocational Education is taking early registrations before, March 31, for a 120-hour C.N.A.-Meds course being planned for this spring. This daytime course is being planned for May and June. Full-time Certified Nurse Assistants may pre-register, and a minimum of six students is required for the class to run. The instructor is Becky Russell, RN, and the course fee is $600, plus book and fees. To pre-register, call before March 31.
