KINNEY, John C. Jr., 84, Bridgewater, in Houlton, February 23, 2010. Spring interment will be at Crouseville Cemetery. Arrangements are in care of Duncan Graves Funeral Home.

 

Image    BRIDGEWATER – John C. “Slim” Kinney Jr., 84, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at Houlton Regional Hospital. He was born on December 28, 1925, in Wade, the son of John C. and Myrtle I. (Butterfield) Kinney. John grew up on a farm. He loved horses and spent many years raising and trading horses. He retired as a heavy equipment operator, working for various construction companies including Perini Construction in Massachusetts. He was known for his outstanding ability as a bulldozer operator.
    John is survived by his wife, Florence (Randall) Howe Kinney, whom he married on Nov. 16, 1991; seven children, Diane Gabriel of Chapman, Donna Dobson of Milford, PA, David Kinney of S. Milwaukee, WI,  Marsha Martin of Presque Isle, John C. Kinney III of Pepperell, MA, Jackie C. Kinney of Cape Hayes, FL, Brian Kinney of Uxbridge, Mass; a brother, Floyd Kinney of Caribou; two sisters, Gladys “Peggy” Young and Ethel Spooner, both of Limestone; 18 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; eight step-children, Linda Nadeau of Wasilla, Alaska, Natalia Bragg of Wade, Iris Theriault of Ashland, Dale Howe of Washburn, George Howe of Wade, Rebecca Howe of Blue Hill, Carol Skinner of Ashland, and Robin Pestana of Hudson, NH; and a special friend, Sam Tomasik of  Bridgewater. He was predeceased by two sons, Steven and Belford “Benney” Kinney; a sister, Crystal “Kitty” O’Neal and a brother, Gordon Kinney.
    Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Friday, February 26, 2010, at the Bridgewater Free Baptist Church with the Pastor George Perkins and Pastor Larry Palmer officiating. Friends called 1 p.m. until time of service at the church. Spring interment will be at Crouseville Cemetery, Crouseville.
