Masse of Limestone awarded scholarship

    The trustees of the Maine Higher Education Assistance Foundation are pleased to announce the awarding of a scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to Lance Masse, a graduate of Limestone High School. Masse is majoring in accounting and business management at UMPI, maintaining a GPA of 4.0.     This year the MeHEAF trustees have selected 12 Maine colleges and universities to receive scholarships. The participating school chooses student recipients. All student scholarship recipients must be in the second, third or fourth year, must be a Maine high school graduate majoring in a business-related area and be in good academic standing. All scholarships are awarded for second semester expenses.
    Since 1990, a total of $248,000 in scholarships has been awarded. Colleges receiving MeHEAF grants this year are: Husson University, Maine Community College System, St. Joseph’s College, Thomas College, University of Maine at Augusta, University of Maine Fort Kent, University of Maine at Machias, University of Maine at Orono, University of Maine at Presque Isle, University of Southern Maine, University of New England and York County Community College.
    Previous scholarship recipients from the University of Maine at Presque Isle include: Tory Bradbury in 2008; Katie McNally in 2007; Jessica White in 2006; Linda Gover in 2005; Kara Dickinson in 2004; Stacey Tardiff in 2003; Danielle Delano in 2002; Amanda Demers in 2001; Michelle St. Peter in 2000; Susan Barker in 1998; Sare Walls in 1997; Terri Hallowell in 1996; and Brad Pelletier in 1995.
    MeHEAF was administered by the Maine Bankers Association from 1990 until 2009 and is now managed by the successor organization, the Maine Association of Community Banks (MACB), 489 Congress St., Portland. Kathleen Meehan of MACB made the presentation.
