Activity at the State Capitol has been at a feverish pace. Legislators are working to complete the second year session of the 124th Legislature by the first week in April. The constitutional ending date for this session is the third Wednesday in April. There seems to be an increase in the number of citizens getting involved by appearing before committees to testify on Legislation. The most noticeable are the large numbers voicing their concern before the Appropriations Committee opposing cuts to the budget while others believe spending must be curtailed and no new taxes should be considered.
Citizens have traveled to Augusta by bus loads. Seen at Committee hearings are folks asking for maintenance of public assistance to dairy farmers and business owners struggling to survive.
I have received many e-mails concerning the State budget. Your input is appreciated. I seriously consider your suggestions and concerns.
