THE TEAM of Cole Brown, left, and Dustin White finished in second place in the State Stock Market Game. Brown and White finished the 12-week game with a portfolio worth $117,658 for a 17.66 percent return on their initial investment of $100,000. There were 191 high school teams competing. The team also finished second in the total statewide competition that includes an additional 83 teams. Their investment money was spread out over 12 stocks with only one them being short (it went up unfortunately). Their investments outperformed the Standard & Poor 500 by 15.22 percent. Both students are enrolled in Small Business Management, a dual enrollment course (one high school credit and three college credits) at the Presque Isle Regional Career and Technical Center. There will be an awards luncheon held downstate later this spring. Their teacher is Alan Curtis.
