FORT KENT — The wins continue to pile up for the Caribou wrestling team as the Vikings improved to 13-4 on the season with a pair of wins Saturday. Caribou beat Ellsworth 43-30 and defeated Mount Desert Island 72-12 in a meet held in Fort Kent. “Ellsworth is a good team and we matched up pretty well,” Caribou coach Todd Albert said. “Michael Selander, Dustin Green, Brendan Wood, Kenny Griffeth, Lance Jandreau and Andrew Adams each had two wins.”
The coach added Selander made weight for the 103 pound class, which should make him much more difficult to beat.
“Dustin Green and Lance Jandreau have been wrestling well and it shows,” the coach said. “Andrew Adams has been a light heavyweight all year and we will probably slot him in the 215 pound class. We have been making good progress and just need to keep working hard and improving.”
The individual results, with Vikings listed first, were:
103 pounds — Selander (12-7, 1 pin) beat Gina Southivong 15-2; and pinned Jonathan Sargent, MDI, at 2:25.
112 pounds — Caribou forfeited to Brandon Goncalves (Ells). Chelsea Martin (8-0) won by forfeit over MDI.
119 pounds — Green (16-3, 7 pins) pinned Zach Harris, E, at 1:33; and pinned Josh Silva, MDI, at 0:37.
125 pounds — Jason Case (6-0, 3 pins) won by forfeit over Ellsworth. Wood won by forfeit over MDI
130 pounds — Wood (12-4, 5 pins) won by forfeit over Ellsworth. Caribou forfeited to Elijah O’Connor, MDI.
135 pounds — Griffeth (9-5, 2 pins) pinned Sara Merrill 1:28; and pinned Justin Lipkvich, MDI, at 2:46.
140 pounds — Jandreau (12-3, 10 pins) beat Ben Wildes 16-13; and pinned Chelsea Johnson, MDI, at 1:05.
145 pounds — Jake Michaud (13-7, 7 pins) lost to Dakota Jewett, E, 6-5; and won by forfeit over MDI.
152 pounds — Dylan Greenier (4-7) was pinned by Dakota Hellum, at 0:58; and won by forfeit over MDI.
160 pounds — Levi Bither (7-11, 4 pins) pinned Logan Leathers, E, at 1:03; and was pinned by Elias Burne, MDI, at 2:34.
