On Saturday, January 9, Girl Scout Troops in the Diamond Area attended a Cookie Rally held at the Caribou Recreation and Wellness Center.
More than 125 Girl Scouts and leaders from 13 area troops attended the function which included game booths, a fruit table and other events. Girl Scout Leaders also picked up their cookie order forms from Neighborhood Cookie Supervisor, Tina Howell during this time.

Area Girl Scouts recently attended a Cookie Rally held at the Caribou Recreation and Wellness Center. More than 125 Girl Scouts and their leaders attended the event, gearing up for the annual cookie fund-raiser.
Area Girl Scouts began selling their famous cookies on Monday with many varieties to choose from. anyone wishing to purchase cookies may contact any Girl Scout, or phone Tina Howell at 498-2003. The popular Girl Scout Cookies remain at the price of $3.50 per box and flavors include Shortbread, Peanut Butter Sandwich, Peanut Butter Patties and the crowd favorite Caramel De-Lites, Thanks-A-Lot (cookie top with chocolate bottom), lemonade and the newest entry, Daisy-Go-Rounds.
Cookie orders must to be turned in the first week of February and cookies will be delivered the second week of March. There will also be time to get some of the delicious treats at booth sales following cookie delivery.
The Girl Scout cookie project is the major fundraising event for Girl Scouts and their troop. This fund-raiser helps cover expenses during the scouting year as well as excursions and Girl Scout Camp.
Currently there are approximately158 Girl Scouts registered in the Diamond area and there is a lack of leaders. Anyone wishing information on starting a new troop or lending a helping hand in an already existing troop, please contact any leader or Wendy Burtchell at wburtchell@gsmaine.org or at 551-1193.
In March, the Aroostook Republican will feature special Girl Scouts pages highlighting Scouts from this area. Leaders or scouts who have group pictures of Girl Scouting events or group photos are asked to bring them to the next leader’s meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 6 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Caribou.
