AAUW to present Money Matters for Women series

PRESQUE ISLE – A three-part series on money management entitled, “A Woman’s Guide to Money Matters: Investing Basics for Women,” will be co-sponsored by AAUW, Edward Jones Investments and the University of Maine at Presque Isle.

Scheduled dates for the informational series are Jan. 14, Feb. 25 and March 11 at the UMPI Campus Center Alumni Lounge. Featured speaker will be Gretchen Morse, professional investment adviser with Edward Jones.
AAUW, long established as a leader in promoting education for women, initiated the series in an effort to help women prepare to manage and be more knowledgeable about their own financial situations. For those just about to graduate and move into the job market, others worried about financing educations, wondering about how to plan for retirement, or just wanting some basic guidelines, this series will try to provide the information they need to make informed financial decisions, including the development of goals and strategies for the future.
The first lecture, Investing Basics, will take place Thursday, Jan. 14 in the Alumni Lounge, upstairs in the UMPI Campus Center, at 7 p.m. Following an informal lecture and discussion format, the program will provide ample opportunities for questions and answers.
The Feb. 25 presentation will build on the first program. On March 11, there will be a book discussion of “The Beardstown Ladies Stitch in Time Guide to Growing Your Nest Egg,” by Robin Dellabough with the Beardstown Ladies. Anyone who is interested is invited to attend, with no commitment required.
The series is open to the public and is appropriate for all ages. While the program is geared primarily for women, men are also welcome. For more information, please call or e-mail Gretchen Morse at 764-0802 or gretchen.morse@edwardjones.com or Pat Rathbun at 762-1791 or prathbun@maine.rr.com.
