Maine Epsilon Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met on Dec. 17 at the home of Nancy Nichols. Her home was adorned with festive decorations both inside and outside to promote the holiday season.
Appetizers were served and the meeting was called to order by Vice President Pam Palm.
Service Chairperson Bonnie Cowett thanked members who had purchased gifts for families in need. Items were collected for the Sister Mary O’Donnell Homeless Shelter and it was voted to send a monetary donation as well.
A gift exchange between Secret Sals was held, preceded by the reading of poems cleverly written by many talented sisters.
Dessert was served by the Social Committee.
The next meeting will be a coffee on Jan. 23, at 9 a.m. at the Mark and Emily Turner Memorial Library.
Preceptor Alpha of Beta Sigma Phi held its monthly meeting at the home of Darrylin Keenan on Jan. 9. Cam Hayward co-hosted.
Various service projects were discussed. Next month, members will bring donations for the Homeless Services of Aroostook. Darrylin will e-mail the group a list of needed items.
In March, members will assemble personal care packets for the Battered Women’s Project.
Also, Paula Flora suggested that members consider a donation to the Kiwanis Christmas Basket Project for next year.
Anne LaPlante announced that the group’s basket of kitchen goods was auctioned for approximately $185 at The Aroostook Medical Center fund-raiser for the Wintergreen Arts Center.
A thank-you note from the Guerrette family was circulated.
Sue Blanchard will be hosting a Tupperware party at her home on Saturday, Jan. 16, at 2 p.m. All members were invited to attend.
After the meeting, the members enjoyed delicious refreshments and good conversation.
