The Caribou boys varsity basketball team was 4-4 entering last night’s contest in Houlton after beating John Bapst at the Bangor Auditorium last Wednesday.     The Limestone/MSSM Eagles are hoping to find their winning ways after the team dropped its eighth consecutive decision Monday.
Summaries of games played through Monday are as follows:
Washburn 62, Ashland 49 – At Ashland Monday, Jordan McLaughlin and Chase Chandler combined for 17 fourth-quarter points as Washburn outscored Ashland 21-7 to erase a 42-41 deficit and come out on top.
McLaughlin finished with a game-high 20 points for the 4-3 winners. Chandler had 16 and Mitch Worcester and Conner Fitzpatrick had nine each. Worcester also dished out 10 assists.
Fort Kent 52, Limestone/MSSM 34 – At Limestone Monday, Jared Soucy scored a game-high 19 points as Fort Kent (4-5) rolled to the victory.
Michael Allen’s 18 points led Limestone/MSSM, which takes a 1-9 record into tonight’s home game against Washburn.
Central Aroostook 65, Washburn 57 – At Mars Hill Saturday, the Panthers built an 11-point third-quarter advantage before Washburn came back to take a three-point lead early in the fourth quarter. In the end, CA had too much and stayed perfect on the campaign.
The 7-0 Panthers were paced by Caleb Kelly’s 19 points.
Worcester drained four three-pointers and finished with a game-high 24 points. Fitzpatrick scored 14 more.
Caribou 40, John Bapst 31 – At the Bangor Auditorium last Wednesday, Caribou jumped out to a 14-0 lead and held off the Crusaders to even its mark to 4-4.
Cameron Anderson led the Vikings with 12 points and Ted Walker, Matt Till and Stephen St. Peter had nine, seven and six, respectively. Chris Nadeau led Caribou in rebounds with six, while Till had five boards and three assists. The Vikes won despite struggling from the foul line, where they went 11 of 23.
Southern Aroostook 79, Washburn 70 – At Washburn last Tuesday, Dakota Sleeper of SA (40 points) and Worcester of the Beavers (30 points) were both on their games offensively, but the Warriors had too much firepower and earned the win.
Fitzpatrick scored 14 points, while Mason Turner and McLaughlin tossed in eight each for Washburn.
