PRESQUE ISLE – The Wildcat hockey team saw its six-game winning streak come to an end last Wednesday as they dropped a 4-2 decision to Winslow at the Forum.

The two teams previous meeting was in last year’s Class B Eastern Maine championship, with Presque Isle coming away with the 5-1 win in that one.
The visiting Black Raiders jumped out in front with a pair of goals in the first 3:28 of play and added a third late in the first period. Presque Isle matched Winslow with 11 shots on goal in the first period, but was unable to convert.
Jason Martin scored the first of his two goals two minutes into the second period, with Isaac Lajoie and Steve Ford notching assists on the scoring play. However, Winslow answered back just 17 seconds later to make it 4-1.
Martin took a pass from Brennen Shaw and scored with 2:19 to play in the second period to narrow the deficit to two goals, but neither team was able to score the rest of the way.
The Wildcats held a 44-25 advantage in shots on goal during the game. Josh MacFarline handled the goaltending duties for Presque Isle, whose scheduled game against Brewer Saturday was postponed due to the inclement weather. The Witches are No. 1 and the Wildcats No. 2 in the latest Heal Point rankings.
