    MAHANY, James Edward, 45, Windham & Easton, in Windham, December 31, 2009. An hour of visitation will be held 10-11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 9, at Dolby Funeral Chapel, Windham. A funeral mass will be celebrated late in the spring.

 

ImageWINDHAM and EASTON – James Edward Mahany, 45, died unexpectedly on December 31, at his home in Windham. Born in Fort Fairfield, he was the son of Gerald L. and Lauretta Kelley Mahany. His paternal grandparents were Luman and Augusta Hayden Mahany of Easton, his maternal grandparents, John and Georgetta Corrow Kelley of Limestone.
    James was a 1983 graduate of Easton High School and was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. Since 1985, he has been a painting contractor in Windham.
    James loved sports and was a NASCAR fan. He touched many people’s lives, had many special friends and was a loving brother. He will be greatly missed by his family.
    He was predeceased by his parents and grandparents, by his aunt, Marie Burke, and his uncles Linwood, Hubert, and Bertrand Kelley and their spouses. Surviving him are a brother, John L. Mahany and wife, Gabriella, of New Braunfels, Texas; five sisters, Carla Leathem and husband, Bill, of Hampden; Kathy Cole and husband, David, of Gorham; Mary Schwartz and husband, Michael, of Windham; Carol Mahany and husband, Bob Friedrich, of Carrabassett Valley; and Judy Mahany-Webber and husband, Darren, of Buxton; an uncle, Neal Kelley and wife, Marlene, of Presque Isle; a special aunt, Barbara Mahany of Easton, his aunts, Lena Leavitt of Surry, Carolyne Mahany of Easton, and Brenda McAllister, and husband, Bob, of Milwaukee, Oregon; several nieces and nephews and many cousins.
    An hour of visitation will be held 10–11 a.m., Saturday, January 9, at Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham. Funeral prayers will be said 11 a.m. at the chapel with the Rev. Brian Blanchette officiating. Late in the spring, at a time yet to be announced, a funeral Mass for James will be celebrated at Saint Joseph’s Church in Mars Hill and his remains will be interred at Pierce Cemetery in that town.
