Special to the Aroostook Republican
Thirty-three Girl Scouts from six Caribou troops have been very active over the recent holidays. Likely the highlight event was a visit to the Caribou Nursing Home for a fun afternoon of Christmas caroling, entertaining about 50 residents and staff. Members of Daisy and Brownie Troop 1092 along with a few of their friends from a Junior Troop, Cadette Troop 016 and Troop 405, Junior Troop 490, and 709 along with some friends from the Crown of Maine Twirlers attended the event.

Participating in the event included (in no particular order) Girl Scouts and Crown of Maine Twirlers: Mackenzie Howell, Madison Howell, Ariel Purkapile, Margo Olmstead, Mackenzie Rossignol, Hailey Holmquist, Hailey Jaundreau, Samantha Tourk, Jennifer Robbins, Jolene Damboise, Anya O’Meara, Adrianna Damboise, Sarae Greenier, Hanah White, Sarah Draper, Idella Thompson, Meagan Dube, Pelletier, Ashley Matlock, Paige O’Bar, Jaelynn Doody, Brianne Gagnon, Samantha Fortin, Brooke Haney, Jayde Violette, Abbi Robbins, Alaina Quinlan, Riley Cavagnaro, Kaitlyn Smith, Chantel Kokian, McKayla Koklak, Kayley Bell, Macie Townson, Nickie Deschaine, Elyssa Violette. Elizabeth Tracy, Danielle Greenier, Erin McBreairty, Ashley Dube, Kassy Belk, Bekah Walker, Alexis McCrossin, Cassie Caron, Taylor Hartley and Jenna Gustafston.
All of the twirlers wore their Christmas green dresses, and each Scout attended in their uniform along with several of the girls wearing Santa hats and other holiday decorations. The music was apparently well received by the residents as much applause, toe tapping, hand waving and smiles were visible along with some leaders, residents, guests and staff singing along.
Girl Scouts from all area troops have also been active in providing special tray favors for the Maine Veterans Home.
During the week, the Girl Scouts held a special gingerbread decorating workshop at the Caribou Recreational Center and are currently looking forward to attending a Cookie Rally at the Caribou Recreation Center on Saturday, Jan. 9 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
