H1N1 influenza continues to decline in Aroostook County and across the state, but another wave of the virus is expected to arrive in the coming weeks or months. The best way to prepare for the next wave of flu is to get vaccinated.
The Aroostook Medical Center encourages all adults, especially those at high risk for complications from the flu, to consider getting vaccinated against both seasonal and H1N1 influenza.
Fort Fairfield residents are encouraged to attend a free adult vaccination clinic on Thursday, Jan. 7, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Fort Fairfield Health Center in the Community General Hospital building. Both seasonal and H1N1 vaccine will be available free. TAMC is also offering free seasonal and H1N1 flu shots at The Clinic at Walmart in Presque Isle and at Fort Fairfield Health Center, Ashland Health Center, Caribou Health Center, Central Aroostook Health Center in Mars Hill and Family Practice & Internal Medicine in Presque Isle. Walk-in service is available at Walmart weekdays from 10 a.m, to 8 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. TAMC’s primary care health centers offer the vaccine during normal business hours.
