    HOULTON – Jean (Tracy) Brown, 87, passed away Dec. 24, 2009, at a local health care facility. She was born in Houlton on April 23, 1922, the daughter of Myrtle (McElwee) and Virgil C. Tracy.
    She was a graduate of Houlton High School in the class of 1940 and a member of the Houlton Methodist Church. She was employed as a telephone operator for 23 years and retired when the Houlton Office closed in1970. Jean was a Past Noble Grand of Portia Rebekah Lodge with a Lifetime Membership. Belonging to a crafts club more than 20 years, her interests were many in sewing, knitting, and crocheting for her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.
    She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn J Briggs and her husband Vaughn of Gorham, New Hampshire, three grandchildren; David Briggs and his wife Jill; Kimberly Jean Bigeau and her husband John; Richard Briggs and his wife Charlene all living in Gorham, New Hampshire. Also six great-grand-children, Alexsa, Kelsey, Brynna, Emma, Spencer, and Madison; one great-great-granddaughter, Gwen; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Eugene E. Brown; one son, Rodney E. Brown in 1946; and two brothers, Vonal C Tracy and Merle D. Tracy.
    Funeral services were held at the Dunn Funeral Home 2 p.m. Tues. Friends called at the funeral home 1 p.m. until time of the service. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
