Volunteer Firefighter/EMT Matt Doody, who has been with the Caribou Fire and Ambulance Department for two years, decided to become involved with the local fire service because, “I saw it as an opportunity to help the citizens of the community.”

Firefighter Matt, 41, who also works as a surgical technician at Cary Medical Center, lives in Caribou with his wife Holli and their children Justin, Jared and Jaclynn. The volunteer firefighter/EMT likes the music from the 1980s and says lasagna is his favorite food.
To enlighten the community residents regarding their local fire department Firefighter Matt stated, “It is an honor and a privilege to be a part of a ‘Big Boys Club.’ That is how I view my position at the department. I think it is a fantastic opportunity to be able to help the community when the need for fire coverage arises — the opportunity to help as an EMT assistant when the phone rings is a great feeling. It’s the ability to help someone in a time of need that gives one a great feeling.”
