The Cary/Pines Atoms team played in a tournament Dec 12.
Eric Benson and Denny Young each scored in a 2-2 tie with Tobique Valley to open play. The hustle award went to Greyson Sonntag. In game two, Cary/Pines bested the DQ Slammers, 7-2, with Young scoring three times, Thomas Patenaude two and Ryan Player and Benson one each. Player received the hustler award and Schumacher was the winning goalie, saving 14 of 16 shots. In the third contest, Southern Victoria managed a 7-4 win over the local squad. Patenaude and Young scored two goals each and Alex Brewer claimed the hustler award.
Sarah Beaulieu, Alex Brewer, Austin Bouchard, Connor Hebert, Tyler Levesque, Isaac Madore and Gregory Jellison were other contributors.
The First Wind Presque Isle Novice 1 youth hockey team had a successful weekend at the Carleton (Florenceville, New Brunswick) Jamboree on Saturday, Dec. 12, finishing with a record of 1-1-1.
In the first game against the Perth 1 team, Presque Isle came from behind to tie the score in the final few minutes. The second game was a loss to the Woodstock Penguins. Presque Isle won the final game of the day against the home-standing Carleton Huskies.
All players from Presque Isles First Wind team played both offense and defense as they advance in their understanding of the game. Jake Stevens lead the Wildcats in scoring for the weekend and was named player of the game in the win over Carleton. Bailey York, Torey Levesque, Brandon McKnight, Nic Morningstar, Caleb Legassie and Adian Johnson picked up goals and assists throughout the Jamboree.
Coach Robert Davis said that he was especially pleased with the passing, the hustle, the heart and sportsmanship that his team showed during the event.
