DYER BROOK — Jarrica Emery, a 17-year-old Southern Aroostook Community School senior, was killed Tuesday morning around 9 when she was driving west on Route 2 and lost control of her 1997 Buick sedan during slippery road conditions, according to Sgt. Julie Bergan of the Maine State Police.
Emery’s car slid across the eastbound travel lane and was broadsided by a tractor trailer truck driven by Jason Pelletier, 40, of Daigle, who was traveling east. He was not injured but his vehicle went off the road.
CSD 9 Superintendent Terry Comeau said Emery was an asset to the school and involved in many activities. Counselors, said Comeau, were at the school following the news of the fatal accident “to work with students and help them share their thoughts and concerns.”
He added that grief counselors and clergy will be at the school later in the week, but it was too early to discuss a memorial.
