Remembrance Tree full of love

    The staff at the Maine Veterans Home in Caribou recently held an outside tree-lighting ceremony in support of military troops at home and away during this holiday season.

ImageAroostook Republican photo/Barb Scott     A Remembrance Tree, located just outside the entrance to the facility was decorated with stars in honor of individual veterans, purchased by family members and friends. The proceeds of the memory stars will be used to assemble and ship holiday boxes to soldiers on active duty overseas, allowing them to experience a bit of home for the holidays.
    The late afternoon weather was blustery but while a group of Caribou High School students sang a variety of Christmas carols, residents, guests and staff lined the walkway near the Remembrance Tree as the names of veterans were recited. A list of
    Following the brief but extremely heartfelt and worthwhile ceremony, guests were invited back into the MVH for light refreshments.
