HOWLAND — The Caribou wrestling squad ran into some tough competition Saturday as the Vikings took on perennial Class B powerhouse Camden Hills, Foxcroft Academy and host Penobscot Valley High School. Caribou fell to Camden Hills 50-30 and defeated Foxcroft Academy 66-18; and lost to PVHS 48-33. “We went against some good programs,” Caribou wrestling coach Todd Albert said. “Camden Hills will probably be the top B wrestling school.We wrestled well against Foxcroft to end the day.”
Caribou grapplers Lance Jandreau, Levi Swan, and Andrew Adams all had strong mat efforts, earning earned three wins. Jake Maher earned his first varsity victory.
Coach Albert said Dustin Green also had a good performance on the mat.
The individual results, with Caribou grapplers listed first, were:
103 pounds — Chelsea Martin (5-0) won by forfeit over Camden Hills, PVHS and FA.
112 pounds – Michael Selander (3-4) lost to Coleman Powers, CH, 13-2; was pinned by David Sirois, PV, at 0:18; and was pinned by Forrest Law, FA, at 1:39.
119 pounds — Cameron Hill (1-2) was pinned by Calan Bragg, CH, at 0:22; won by forfeit over PVHS; and was pinned by Mark Smith, FA, at 1:21.
125 pounds — Dustin Green (6-1, 2 pins) lost to Tom Cassidy, CH, 12-4; won by forfeit over PVHS; and pinned Matt Smith, FA, at 3:39.
130 pounds — Lance Jandreau (5-1, 4 pins) pinned Max Bragg, CH, at 3:45; Brendon Wood (1-1) lost by injury default to Zack Lafreneiere, PV; and won by forfeit over Foxcroft Academy.
135 pounds — Kenny Griffeth (4-2) was pinned by Zach Fields, CH, at 2:42; won by forfeit over PVHS; Jandreau pinned Wesley Stinson, FA, at 3:15.
