PRESQUE ISLE — The Presque Isle boys and girls swim teams hosted their first meet of the season Saturday as a large contingent from Brewer journeyed to the Star City.
The Wildcat girls fell 110-49, while the Presque Isle boys lost 114-34.
On the positive side, two Wildcats — Kyle Gilson and Erica Hemphill — both qualified for the state meet in two separate events. Gilson qualified in the 50 and 100 freestyle events, while Hemphill qualified in the 50 free and 100 butterfly.
The individual Wildcat girls results were:
200 medley relay — 2, Presque Isle (Shae Adler, Erica Hemphill, Alecia Palmer and Dara Raymond), 2:17.94.
200 free— 4, Palmer, 2:58.79; and 5, Ashley Burlock, 3:55.04.
50 free — 2, Hemphill, 27.96; 4, Grace Short, 31.66; 5, Rilee Elliot Currie, 32.33; and 7 (tie), Jesse Lucas and Sarah McEachern, 37.28.
100 fly — 1, Hemphill, 1:09.88.
100 free — 3, Raymond, 1:14.48; 5, McEachern, 1:29.84; and 6, Ashley Burlock, 1:49.08.
500 free — 3, Currie, 7:38.72.
200 free relay — 1, Presque Isle (Raymond, Alder, Short, Hemphill), 2:30.15; and 4, Presque Isle (Divya Bisht, Palmer, Lucas, and McEachern), 3:05.38.
100 backstroke — 2, Adler, 1:20.58.
100 breaststroke — 1, Short, 1:24.83; 2, Palmer, 1:31.25; 6, Bisht, 1:43.59; and 7, Lucas, 1:45.56.
