FORT KENT — The Aroostook County Commissioners met in Fort Kent on Dec. 2 to discuss items that varied from the dispatch relocation project to the purchase of pharmaceutical items for the jail.
Commissioners Normal Fournier, Paul Underwood, and Chairperson Paul Adams approved a motion to purchase pharmaceuticals from Correct Rx through a State of Maine contract, which would yield a savings of approximately 50 percent.
Facilities Manager Bryan Jandreau was in attendance at the meeting and provided the commissioners with an update on the dispatch relocation project. Jandreau, the commissioners, Sheriff Jim Madore and County Administrator Doug Beaulieu deliberated over financial and logistical concerns regarding the project; the dispatch relocation project is scheduled to be on the agenda for the County Commissioners meeting that takes place tonight at 5:30 p.m. in the Caribou Courthouse.
The commissioners also approved a three-year fire protection agreement with the town of Van Buren for T17R3 and dates for the 2010 County Commissioners meetings.
During his Administrator’s report, Beaulieu informed the commissioners about a request made by the Perkins-Plourde American Legion Post 136 request, the Board of Corrections meeting that was recently held in Houlton, the 2010 Workers’ Compensation Experience Rating and an update on federal monitoring of the Work Force Investment Act that took place during the week of Nov. 15.
The next meeting of the County Commissioners is scheduled to take place this evening in Caribou.
