PRESQUE ISLE – Lillian E. DeMerchant, 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 6, 2009 in Portage with her family by her side. She was born on February 18, 1915, in Fall River, Mass., the daughter of Raymond and Lucy (Belanger) Daigle.
Lillian was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She helped in supporting her family by working at Potato Service Inc. for twenty-two years. Lillian is survived by her four children, Clayton of Portage, Raymond “Earlin” of Presque Isle, Dalice Blanchard of Presque Isle, and Lucille London of Zephyrhills, FL; two special granddaughters, Roxanne Walton and Robin Ligons; seven other grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren, and four great- great-grandchildren; a special niece, Connie Soucy of Eagle Lake; a nephew, Roger Daigle of Washburn; long time friends, Helen Armstrong of Washburn and Violet Frazier of Presque Isle. She was predeceased by her husband, Maurice DeMerchant.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle with the Rev. Aaron Damboise officiating.
