PRESQUE ISLE – An Aroostook County native who has led whitewater kayaking trips in Central America will offer a public presentation titled “Kayaking in Remote Areas” on Wednesday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. in the Campus Center at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Mike Smith, who currently works for the Maine Winter Sports Center as their Community Development Coach, is an avid paddler and registered Maine Guide. He recently returned from leading paddling excursions in Panama and will share stories of his various trips as well as tips on equipment and preparation needed for remote outings. This final presentation in the University’s “Adventures in Recreation” series is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
