New flag for new courtroom

FLAG DAY — Bernard O’Mara, judge in the Maine District Court, proudly displays a new Maine state  flag for Courtroom One in Houlton. The judge said: “The Houlton Bar Association was gracious enough to purchase a new flag. We have two courtrooms. Basically, one of our flags was old and soiled and this is a replacement for that. We are very appreciative. Flags represent not just the state, but the promises that people have made to each other in the state. One of the promises is that they have recourse to courts to decide their disagreements. It’s a very important symbol.”
