Mapleton Girl Scouts welcome guests

Mapleton Daisy and Brownie Troop 1133 had three special guests at their recent November meeting. Cadette Girl Scouts from Presque Isle Troop 677 attended the meeting to volunteer their time to work with the younger girls. All three Cadettes are working toward their leadership award, which requires numerous hours of service assisting younger Scouts.

Cadettes at the meeting were Michaela Dube, Bailee Robichaud and Stephanie Winslow. The Cadettes helped the Daisies and Brownies make jingle bell bracelets and tree ornaments for their upcoming Christmas caroling event Dec. 5. They also sang Christmas carols with the girls while Michaela played her saxophone and Stephanie played her flute. The Cadettes also helped with songs, snack, and talked to the younger girls about service projects they have been involved with. The Daisies and Brownies enjoyed having the older Scouts at their meeting and look forward to singing Christmas carols with them at the Presque Isle Nursing Home Dec. 5!

The girls have worked very hard making ornaments to hand out and are ready to spread some holiday cheer! Please make plans to attend!
Elves in Training
The Mapleton Parents Organization is sponsoring a new holiday activity this year. “Elves in Training” is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5 from 9-11 a.m. at the Mapleton Elementary School cafeteria and is open to all Mapleton Elementary School students and their family members. Children are invited to decorate a gingerbread cookie ornament for their Christmas tree! Snacks and drinks will be served for the “elves” that work hard to complete their ornament. Parents are asked to accompany all “elves” to this workshop. (It is rumored that the “Boss” may attend the workshop, too!). Registration forms went home before the Thanksgiving break, but if you did not get a chance to sign up your “elf,” please contact Katie Putnam at 764-0897 or katiekate2002@hotmail.com. There is a $2 fee for each child and adults are free! Donations are also being accepted for refreshments for the morning. Please contact Katie if you would like to make a donation.
Fund-raiser Auction

MAPLETON UNITED METHODIST CHURCH members assembled food boxes for those in need during the Thanksgiving holiday. The boxes were prepared to feed a small family for one week. Each box contained everything needed for a Thanksgiving feast, including turkeys and pies. This annual service project was made possible through the generous donations received by church and community members. Pictured are some of the Sunday School children who assisted with decorating and packing boxes, from left: Christian Lunn, Lexie Lunn, Danielle McBurnie and Brittany McBurnie.
