MARS HILL – Lester F. Smith, 78, died Saturday evening November 28, 2009, at a Mars Hill Health Care facility. He was born on January 7, 1931, in Montrose, Miss., the son of Lester and Mary Ruth (Smith) Smith.
He served in the U.S. Navy 1950-1954. He was a lifetime member of VFW in Yardville, N.J. Lester moved to Maine from New Jersey in 1989.
He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Garey and her husband William of Mars Hill, and his close friends Elizabeth and Norman McPherson of Mars Hill. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth (Loveman) Smith in 1988.
