Greater Houlton Christian Academy students in grades 9-12 are bringing their personal laptops to classes to use as part of daily instruction. Miss Gooding’s sophomores connect to a Web site to do some intriguing work with vocabulary and grammar. In other classes, students are using laptops to do research for history and Bible term papers, as well as for science projects. The laptop is being gradually integrated into the coursework at the Academy. This year, it has been required that each student have a personal laptop for classroom work. Junior high students are currently learning business applications, research and presentation, data management and computer programming. Elementary students are regularly using the computer lab, which has been recently updated with all Neoware thin clients.
