Tucked inside Good’s Redemption Center on Florence Avenue in Houlton is a relatively new business. Gordon’s Beverage, a purveyor of fine wine and beers, has been enjoying a growing business since their opening on Aug. 20.
“It’s beginning to grow as people realize where we are and how varied our selection is,” said co-owner Krista Gordon, who husband Patrick is also on board with the entrepreneurship.
The Gordons started their beverage store after years of stopping in Portland and Bangor to purchase imported domestic beer and fine wine. One item of popular interest has been Riesling wine.
“We just decided to bring the selection to the County,” Gordon said. “We offer many beers and wines that are not available anywhere else in the County. We enjoy trying to find special items for our customers.”

CUT THE RIBBON – Gordon’s Beverage were welcomed by the Greater Houlton Chamber of Commerce with a ribbon cutting on Oct. 23. At the ribbon cutting were, from left, Ann Callnan, chamber member; Lori Weston, executive director of the chamber of commerce; Krista Gordon, owner; Kent Good, president of the Chamber of Commerce‘s Board of Directors, and Karen Fitzpatrick, chamber member.
The location to the Gordons was a “natural pairing.”
“You can return your empty bottles and leave with some full ones,” Krista said.
Gordon’s Beverage at 9 Florence Ave. is open Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“For years, my husband and I have been studying and experimenting with food and wine pairings for many styles of cuisine,” said Krista. “We hope to be able to recommend a wine to accompany nearly any dish.”
