Caribou Middle School sixth-grade student Paul Hanson concentrates as he ties a red ribbon on the chain-link fence at Teague Park. Hanson, along with more than 400 classmates in grades five through eight participated in the opening ceremony of Red Ribbon Week, a world-wide event focused on ending substance abuse.
After each student had tied ribbons along the entire perimeter of the park, they stood, hand-in hand as a red flag, containing the students signatures was raised, flying beneath the American flag in front of the school. The signatures on the Red Ribbon flag show the commitment of each student and their promise to abstain from drug and alcohol use. The red ribbon logo for the CMS students is, Hand-in hand, we take a stand.
