Girls soccer squads made one final push to improve their playoff standings as the regular season has now come to an end.
Presque Isle played the final game of the regular season on Tuesday (last night) against Fort Kent in a game that had huge significance for the Wildcats. With a win or tie, Presque Isle may have earned enough points to overtake Winslow for the No. 1 seed.

Caribou secured a playoff berth, despite a season-ending loss at Old Town. The Vikings did defeat Fort Kent thanks to a late-game comeback earlier in the week.
Ashland, Easton, Limestone-MSSM, Central Aroostook and Fort Fairfield are the Class D teams who all look to be among the top eight in their division and as a result will make the playoffs.
The quarterfinal round of the playoffs will be held next Wednesday, Oct. 28. Actual matchups will be determined as soon as the final Heal Point standings become official, either today or tomorrow.
The following results are for games played through Monday, Oct. 19.
Central Aroostook 1, Van Buren 1 (2 OT) — At Mars Hill Monday, Brittni Mosher of Central Aroostook and Haley Lizotte of Van Buren scored goals less than 2-1/2 minutes apart late in the first half, and that’s the way the contest ended after regulation and two overtime sessions.
Kristin Long had the assist on Mosher’s goal, while Jenna Guerrette assisted on Lizotte’s.
Paige Garrison (five saves on 15 shots) of CA and Ashley Wilson (11 saves on 17 shots) of Van Buren were the goalies.
Ashland 5, Fort Fairfield 0 — At Presque Isle Monday, Ashland won for the 12th time this season against two losses, blanking the visiting Tigers. Brooke LaBelle scored a goal and assisted on two others, while Jessica Jimmo, Macie Pelkey, Kayla Cote and Anna Paradis were the other goal scorers for Peter Belsksis’s squad.
Taylor Baker ran her shutout total for the season to nine, as she saved six of nine shots in goal for the Hornets.
Katy Donovan saved 17 of 38 shots for the Tigers, who finished the regular season at 7-6-1.
Presque Isle 6, Mattanawcook Academy 0 — At Lincoln Saturday, Brooke Long-Postell, Chelsea Nickerson, Kayla Richards, Alyssa Huston and Megan Ireland were among the goal scorers as the Wildcats remained unbeaten with the shutout win.
Van Buren 0, Washburn 0 (2 OT) — At Washburn Thursday, neither team was able to crease the net after 80 minutes of regulation and two 10-minute overtime periods. Rayah Saucier had 14 saves on 18 shots for Washburn, while Ashley Wilson stopped 16 of 20 shots for Van Buren.
Ashland 14, Wisdom 0 — At St. Agatha Thursday, the Hornets had no trouble with the host Pioneers, rolling to their highest goal total of the season.
Fort Fairfield 3, Central Aroostook 1 — At Fort Fairfield last Tuesday, Kylie Plourde and Brooke Beaulieu each scored a goal and had an assists to lead the Tigers past Central Aroostook. Sydney Churchill also scored a goal and Kacie York had an assist for Fort Fairfield. Sarah Michaud tallied the only goal for the Panthers.
Katy Donovan had 10 saves on 14 shots, while Paige Garrison had four saves on 14 shots for the Panthers.
Katahdin 1, Washburn 0— At Washburn last Tuesday, Katahdin’s Melissa Duffy scored the game’s only goal to lead the Cougars to victory. Makayla Patterson had four saves on five shots for Katahdin, while Rayah Saucier had four saves on 12 shots for Washburn.
