Rec news
The Easton Rec Department took a trip over to Hunter’s Farm in Canada on Sept. 30. They had a great time going through the corn maze. The maze was made like a Montreal hockey player. The field of fun was also exciting with a hay castle, racetracks, a cow train, slide and a store to buy things. Everyone had a good time.
Easton Methodist women meet
The Easton United Methodist Women held their first meeting, after discontinuing them for the months of June, July and August. The meeting was held at the church dining room on Aug. 16, with seven members present, including: Marie Hewitt, Glenice Craig, Margery Niblett, Eldora Carter, Dottie Beaton, Lindy Fowler and Freida Dionne.
The meeting opened with devotions by Marie Hewitt with the word of the month, “neighbor.” The secretary, Marjorie Corey, was absent so there were no reading of the minutes of the May meeting. After the treasurer’s report by Marie Hewitt, the quilt chairman, Freida Dionne, reported the sale of two baby quilts with four left for sale.
The group was reminded that the Northern District of United Methodist Women will be held at the Grant Memorial United Methodist Church on Oct. 3. Forty-one visitations were made by the group and seven cards were sent out.
It was voted to donate $100 to the Easton Friends Helping Friends Food Cupboard; $50 each was given to help families that were undergoing health problems. Prayers were said for those people on the church prayer list. The meeting then adjourned, followed with refreshments by Marjorie Niblett.
