CARIBOU — The Babies and Books program, a collaboration between the Friends of the Caribou Public Library and Cary Medical Center, has graduated eight youths from the program, a number that’s more than doubled from the previous graduating class.
The Staff of the Caribou Public Library was pleased to announce the graduation of eight babies from the Babies and Books program. Among the eight graduates include front row, Benjamin Bouchard with his mother, Cindy and Kody Tracey with his mother, Kristy. Back row, from left: Isabela Arce with her father, Herb; Mark Cyr with his mother, Colleen and Caleb Holmes with his father, Jonathan. Graduates not pictured include Emma Jean Neilander, daughter of Lora Beaver; Bryce Plourde, son of Lisa Plourde and Clinton Perry, son of Norma and Clinton Perry.
After the babies are received at Cary Medical Center, the new family is sent home with a bag from the hospital containing various free items, including a little letter from the library that has a library card attached to it with an invitation for the family to register their new baby for the Babies and Books program.
When the new youth is registered for the program they receive their first little board book and informational hand-outs for the parents which explain various activities they can do with their child to encourage reading.
