Amanda Jo Smith and James Robert McLaughlin were married August 8, 2009, in Presque Isle, Maine. The ceremony took place at the Grant Memorial United Methodist Church, with Diane Langworthy serving as Reverend. A wedding reception followed at the Northeastland Hotel, also in Presque Isle.
The bride is the daughter of Edwin and Catherine Smith of Fort Fairfield. The groom is the son of Mari Jo and John Hedman of Fort Fairfield, and Vaughn and Vicki McLaughlin also of Fort Fairfield.
The maid of honor was Ashley Lamoreau, cousin of the bride. Bridesmaids were Brittany and Kaitlyn McLaughlin, sisters of the groom. Grace and Emily Bemis served as flower girls. The best man was Jason Levesque, friend of the groom. Groomsmen included Mathew Smith, brother of the bride and Brendan McLaughlin, brother of the groom. Teddy Bemis served as ring bearer.
The bride is a 2004 graduate of Fort Fairfield High School, a 2006 graduate of Northern Maine Community College, with an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Accounting Information Systems and a 2008 graduate of Husson College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. She is currently employed as an Accountant at the Defense Finance and Accounting Service in Limestone. The groom is a 2003 graduate of Fort Fairfield High School, and a 2006 graduate of Northern Maine Community College with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Computer Aided Drafting. He is currently an undergraduate student at the University of Maine in Presque Isle and is employed at Rathbun Lumber as a Salesman, also in Presque Isle.
The couple is making their home in Fort Fairfield.
