Wildcats, Hornets top Heals

    Local soccer squads continue to have a good showing in the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Points standings. With the soccer season rapidly winding to a close, teams are jockeying for playoff position.     The following standings are for games played through Monday, Sept. 21.
Girls Soccer
    In Eastern Class B, Presque Isle (7-0, 32.1429) remains the top-ranked team, while Caribou (5-2, 26.7857) is second.
    In Eastern Class D, Ashland (7-1, 42.8061) is the top-rated squad, holding the No. 2 seed, while Southern Aroostook (9-1, 47.5255) is first. Easton (9-4-1, 32.3852) is the third-ranked squad, while Central Aroostook (4-6-1) is fourth; Fort Fairfield (6-2-1, 29.4260) is fifth; and Washburn (2-7-3, 19.1454) is eighth. The top eight teams make the playoffs.
Boys Soccer
    The Caribou boys soccer team sits atop the Eastern Class B soccer standings as of Tuesday morning, leapfrogging two spots to the No. 1 seed. Caribou (3-1-3, 25.8418 points) holds a slim lead over No. 2 Camden Hills (6-1, 24.8214), while Presque Isle (4-0-2, 22.9719) is a close third.
    In Eastern Class D, Central Aroostook (9-2, 52.5510) is the top-ranked team, while Ashland (5-2, 19.3878) is sixth; Washburn (2-9-1, 13.3291) is ninth; Easton (5-9, 12.8246) is 10th; and Fort Fairfield (3-6, 8.9286) is 11th. The top 10 teams qualify for the playoffs.
