WASHBURN — A Saturday evening fire, in the Crouseville section of Washburn, caused extensive damage to a home located on Route 164.
The Washburn Fire Department received a call at approximately 10:20 p.m. reporting a structure fire on the Washburn Rd. The house and garage — a rental property owned by Stillman Miller, of Mars Hill — was fully involved when crews arrived. Firefighters from Presque Isle, Caribou and Mapleton were called to assist, along with Crown Ambulance. Crews remained on scene for about four hours.
No injuries were reported as the result of the fire. Officials did not know if the home was insured.
The property was believed to be rented at the time of the blaze. No one was home when the fire broke out. The garage was totally destroyed, while the house sustained extensive damage.
Fire Marshal Tim Lowell was notified and is investigating. No cause had been determined at presstime.
