Seeking backpacks for back-to-school

LIMESTONE — What started as the sharing of an inspirational story turning into the newest project for the Limestone Rotary Club.
Rotarian Larry Zenzius spoke about a news story he heard regarding an inspired youth who took it upon herself to collect used book bags for students who needed them.     Following suit, the Limestone Rotary Club is currently seeking new or gently used book bags so that they might provide the backpacks to students who would otherwise go without.
Many students receive a new backpack for a new school year regardless of the condition the previous year’s backpack may be in; donating an old back pack is a great way to clear up space in a closet without needlessly wasting a functional item.
Book bags can be placed in boxes located at the Limestone Grocery, the Robert A. Frost Memorial Library, or at Hometown One Stop.
Club members are hoping to distribute book bags to students with a need when they return from harvest break next month.
Individuals with additional questions regarding the community outreach program may contact Dottie Martin, president of the Limestone Rotary Club at 328-4212 ext. 7100.
