Please pray hard this week

To the editor:
This week something very important is taking place in our nation’s capitol. Up here in Aroostook County, it is easy at times, to become almost insulated from what is happening in the rest of the world as we enjoy life as “the way life should be”. What happens in our nation’s capitol though is like throwing a rock in a lake … the ripples will eventually reach us and when they do we may not be too happy about them.
On this Friday, Sept. 25th, Muslims are calling for a Muslim Day of Prayer in Washington, D.C. They are calling for 50,000 Muslims to gather and pray on the DC Mall. This is the exact word of one of the Sheikhs who is leading this historic gathering: “Muslims should march on the White House. We are going to the White House so that Islam will be victorious, Allah willing, and the White House will become a Muslim house.”
No matter what your religious views are, these words should send chills down your spine. Our country was founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs and God has poured His grace and mercy on our country. Anyone who has studied Islam in depth knows it is far from the peaceful religion many perceive it to be.
Please take time this week to pray, for our country, our cities, our children. America (Maine included) is fast becoming the way “life should not be” as our freedoms are being pulled away by many forces … we need to wake up, stand up, speak up and send many prayers up before it is too late.
