Let’s remember Evergreen and its dedicated caretakers

To the editor:
I wanted to mention a little fact that was left out of Caribou’s Special 150th section of the newspaper. That is the Evergreen Cemetery (the oldest public cemetery) in Caribou should have been in the paper.     Benjamin Stubbs and Lothrop Stubbs were the caretakers for over 85 years combined. The two of them took great pride in their work and saw to everything – mowing, trimming, watering the flowers by hand, also digging the graves by hand with shovel and pickaxe.
Lothrop Stubbs kept records of all the lots (who’s where) until his death. He also taught me and my siblings to respect the departed as you would want to be respected. I just feel they should have been mentioned.
