Eldora pleased with surprise party

To the editor:
I have finally come down to earth and now I want to tell all those friends and acquaintances who attended my surprise retirement party how much I appreciated them, especially my friends at the Star-Herald who instigated it, the Town Office and crew, Town Manager John Hangen, and the plaque they gave me, even if it was in upside down, the Selectmen for their nice letter in the Star-Herald, and especially the Recreation Department and helpers who put on such a great meal.     It was nice to see my picture along with my cute little great-grandson, Cole, on the front page of the paper and when I learned that my picture along with Town Manager Hangen was also in the Houlton Pioneer Times, I felt like a celebrity. I came from that area, Dyer Brook, Merrill and Oakfield, and perhaps some people down there remember me, or at least my parents, Leah and Perley Porter. All in all it was a great day and one I will cherish. Thank you so much and may the Lord bless you all.
