    LITTLETON – James L. Westerdahl, 75, a prominent Littleton business man, died September 18, 2009, at a Bangor hospital following a tragic accident on September 16, 2009. He was born in McKaysville, Georgia on December 11, 1933, son of Carl and Dorothy Westerdahl.
    James moved to Aroostook County at the age of 17 with the Core Drills, then met and married his wife, Arthlene Hanning. They travelled with the Core Drills for several years before they settled in Littleton and raised their family. He began his own business, Westerdahl's Garage, in 1971, and a trucking company in Littleton which both are currently running today. James enjoyed singing and sang with many bands over the years. Arthlene and he sang at many different functions. After he retired due to ill health, they spent their winters in Florida and summers at Nickerson Lake. Jim was a member of the Monument Lodge of Masons #96 A.F. and A.M. of Houlton. Jim was also a member of the Anah Temple Shrine of Bangor, Me.
    Jim leaves his wife of 58 years Arthlene Westerdahl; his son Barret Westerdahl and wife, Wendy; four grandchildren, Jayson Westerdahl of Littleton, Joshua Westerdahl and wife Holly of New Limerick, Kamden and James Westerdahl of Littleton; a daughter-in-law, Carol Westerdahl of New Limerick; two special cousins of Georgia; and six nieces and nephews of Alabama. He also leaves his dog, Megan, whom he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his parents, son James A. in 2006, sister and brother-in-law.
    Friends may call at  the Dunn Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26. Funeral services will be held  2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, at the Littleton Baptist Church.
