Morrison, Galen A., Mapleton, August 31, 2009. Committal prayers with Military honors will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009 at the Southside Cemetery, Mapleton. A celebration of Galen’s life will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at the West Chapman Advent Christian Church. Arrangements in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.

 

ImageMAPLETON – Galen A. Morrison, 72, passed away Monday, August 31, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Presque Isle on April 29, 1937, the son of Walter A. and Theresa (Garrity) Morrison.  Image Image
    Galen served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1962. He owned and operated a family grocery store for many years in Mapleton. He also worked as a delivery driver at Coles Express Co. and Acadia Medical Supply and was the caretaker of the Mapleton Cemetery Association. Galen was Fire Chief of Mapleton Fire Dept. for many years, a member of Anah Temple Shrine  and the Washburn Masonic Lodge.
    He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Victoria (Crabbe) Morrison of Mapleton; a son, Dale Morrison and his wife Michele of Presque Isle; a daughter, Mitzi Rogers and her husband  Sam of Bangor; three grandchildren, Tim, Andrew, and Melissa  Morrison; a foster daughter, Tanya Harris of Calais; a step-son, Brian Crabbe of Halifax, N.S.; a special niece and nephew, Wayne and Lisa Morrison; special family friends, Jerry and Barb Cawley, Jeff Robertson, Gordon and Louise Weeks, and “Uncle” Jimmy Vardimis. He was predeceased by a brother, Dale Morrison.
    Committal prayers with Military honors will be held 1 p.m. Thursday Sept. 3, 2009 at Southside Cemetery, Mapleton. A celebration of Galen’s Life will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at the West Chapman Advent Christian Church with Pastor Nathan Gardiner officiating.
