As part of Caribou’s Sesquicentennial Celebration, there will be a special Ecumenical Service held at the Caribou Performing Arts Center on Sunday, Sept. 6 beginning at 2 p.m. This very special commemorative event is to feature a processional of area clergy entering with flowers and banners; music will be provided by a band made up of local musicians from churches, as well as the Ecumenical Choir performing throughout this afternoon program.
The theme for the September 6, service is based on the words of the “Gloria Patria,” which will be offered in three sections. The first, “As it was in the beginning,” will be spoken by Kathryn Olmstead, representing the Unitarian/Universalist Church; the next section, “It is now,” will be delivered by Father Jean Paul LaBrie, from the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the final portion, “And Ever Shall Be,” will be given by Rev. Thomas Bentum, pastor at the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church in Caribou.
Allow yourself an afternoon of peacefulness. Enjoy listening (and singing) to the hymns we all grew up with and lose yourself in the quiet meaningful words of the service. All offerings from this event will benefit the Ecumenical Food Pantry.
This Ecumenical Service is made possible by participants from the entire community and promises to encourage us all to pause in our busy schedules, to reflect on our own individual roots, as well as those of this city and to think — about our future.
It’s Caribou’s 150th Birthday — Be a part of it!
