1967: A group of vandals apparently attempted to run Caribou’s famous covered wagon down a hill behind Hotel Caribou and into the Caribou Stream, but the vehicle was saved from destruction by a tree stump or some other obstacle which arrested its descent. The wagon had been on display near the Chamber of Commerce entrance in the hotel. The covered wagon will be showcased in the Sesquicentennial parade on Sept. 5, and will traverse a much calmer terrain.
